California Knows How to Party

"They have more bounce in California"

The Special Event Show in Las Angeles

I just returned from spending a week in Las Angeles attending The Special Event. What a wonderful experience. The Special Event is an annual “big party” where event professionals (designers, planners, caterers, florists, etc) network together and learn about the latest trends, innovations, and designs in events.

One of my fave moments was getting to hear Eartha Kit  live at the huge Diva Bling opening night party! (The middle sister from Full House was also in attendance at the soirée .)

Some of the new trends in weddings/events that I loved learning about are:

  • Creating  quaint yet chic Miami Lounges and/or Cigar Lounges for wedding receptions

  • Red/Cranberry/Sangria & Gray/Pewter/Silver are the NEW Black/Ebony/Night & White/Ivory/Snow

  • Even if your party planning doesn’t seem to be coming up roses, you can make it smell like it is with systems such as Scent Events that can fill your party rooms with scents such as rose, cinnamon, and citrus. Will wonders never cease? Love it!

  • Living Gardens composed of fountains and flowers with a heart beat are a very interesting twist the same old same old mime at your shin dig (And yet as somewhat freaky as a mime too. Mimes to me or as Clowns to many others: a strange unexplainable phobia)

This week also allowed me to meet and spend some quality time with the amazing Alicia Falango of San Francisco and Miami based AK Designs .

She’s amazing and has perfected the technique of the new trend of creating “Miami Lounges” for wedding receptions.  (see pictures of her designs below)
